October 17, 2008 at 5:58 pm, the life of Rodney O. Thompson II came to a tragic end due to distracted driving. In an effort to prevent other families from experiencing the excruciating pain of losing aloved one, Diveeta Thompson embarked on a mission to STANDD. To encourage individuals to Stop Texting And Driving Distracted. She has been featured on radio PSA’s, in news paper articles and has spoken at parent teen driving seminars as well as at various high schools and churches and universities. Informing others of the devastation of Texting and Driving Distracted while promoting education, literacy and the importance of safety has become her new purpose. She is passionate about lending her voice to save the lives of others. In doing so, she can assure that Rodney is remembered for the amazing soul he was.
